We love a good DIY - either to treat ourselves or to gift! It's a fun and simple way take nourishing benefits of some of your favouite superfoods and give your skin a treat.
One of our favourite ingredients is Manuka Honey! Our friends at Wedderspoon Organics have shared 2 of their best DIY Manuka Honey beauty recipes - good enough to eat, and your skin will thank you!!
AVOCADO HONEY FACE MASK
Let’s get our glow on. Ongoing alternative research shows manuka honey to be both antibacterial and anti-inflammatory, which makes it a perfect remedy for problem skin! But, this amazing honey’s benefits don’t stop there. Remnants of New Zealand honeys like Beechwood add softness, moisture and balance to the skin due to a high concentration of live enzymes and antioxidants. The fats in the avocado and whole milk yogurt are moisturizing to the skin, while lactic acid in the yogurt help to smooth your skin, even out skin tone and diminish the appearance of pores.
• 1 tsp mashed organic avocado
• 1 tsp plain whole milk yogurt
• 1 tsp Wedderspoon Manuka Honey
• 1 tsp Monk Fruit Sweetner
• 1/16 tsp Sea Salt
Mix these ingredients in a bowl until smooth. Spread the mixture over your face and let sit for 20-30 minutes
Rinse off and pat dry with a clean towel
Hydrate with your favourite moisturizer - we love rosehip seed oil as a rich, nourishing facial serum!
MOISTURIZING MANUKA HONEY BODY BUTTER
The best kind of DIY beauty recipes are those that call for minimal ingredients, especially when those required ingredients are ones you likely already have on-hand. But, don’t be fooled by the simplicity of our Moisturizing Wedderspoon Manuka Honey Body Butter recipe–this body butter will completely quench your skin and leave it feeling silky smooth. We’re sure you’ll love this DIY recipe and will want to whip up a batch of this body butter for all your friends!
Equal parts cacao butter, coconut oil, and shea butter (measurements depend on amount of body butter you want to make; we recommend starting with 1/4 cup of each)
Put coconut butter, coconut oil and shea butter in a sauce pan. Keep on medium heat until completely melted.
Remove from heat and let mixture sit until it is opaque. To speed up this process you can put the mixture in fridge or freezer for about 30 minutes.
Once the mix is ready, use a hand mixer on a low setting to break it up. Add Wedderspoon Manuka Honey, and, if using, add coloring, fragrance and essential oils. Whip mixture until it is fluffy.
Transfer to a jar and seal.
