Staying Hydrated Naturally!

I can’t believe we are already entering July!

This past year has truly flown by and I know that summer is going to pass even quicker. 

As we enter this time of the year, it’s a good idea to check in with your hydration. With the weather reaching higher temperatures, keeping hydrated is vital to our energy levels, stress levels, and overall well being. 

Most of us are drinking about one to two litres of water per day, but with the heat coming in this summer, I would recommend increasing your water intake. If you’re stressed out, sweating, eating foods high in sodium, in the heat, then you’ll need to consider hydrating some more. 

Here are my best tips for staying hydrated in this heat: 

• Drink filtered water instead of tap water. Unfortunately, tap water contains heavy metals like calcium and chlorine, which not only reduce our immunity over time, but they also dehydrate the body. I recommend looking into a Berkey or Santevia filter as these help to clear out the heavy metals while also remineralizing the water. 

• Make sure to take your vitamins and minerals! Water is obviously crucial when it comes to hydration, but many people don’t realize that a multivitamin or multi-mineral supplement is just as important. 

• Prioritize vitamin C. Vitamin C actually helps to feed our adrenals so it’s crucial for us to be getting enough vitamin C throughout the day. I personally would recommend a supplement like CanPrev Vitamin C or you can get your dose through citrus foods!

• Add a pinch of sea salt into your water! Sea salt essentially acts as an electrolyte— think Gatorade without the sugar and added ingredients! This itself will really help to replenish the body of those necessary nutrients. 

Here is my favourite juice recipe!


1 stalk celery
1 apple of choice
1 quarter of a lemon
1 pinch of sea salt 


Use a juicer or Vitamix to blend the ingredients up. If you are using a Vitamix, make sure to get a nut milk cloth to strain the fibre from the juice once you’ve blended it. You can keep this juice in the fridge for 1-3 days!
