Cryogenic Chamber Therapy for Pain Management
Cryogenic Chamber Therapy for Pain.

Pain is something we prefer to live without.  This is especially true of chronic pain conditions like fibromyalgia and arthritis, to name a few.  Usually when we had had enough we run to a doctor just to find our selves with a prescription in hand for a drug that is toxic to our liver or highly addictive, or as in many cases both.

So how can we deal with this problem in a natural and safe way? There are two important ways to decrease pain. The first one is to decrease inflammation, as most pain conditions are inflammatory in nature. There are a number of healthy natural health products that do this effectively. Some of the most effective are turmeric, curcumin and ginger.

But what if that is not your favorite thing or maybe you require something stronger. Well there is another treatment that works. It’s called Cryogenic Chamber Therapy. It entails walking into a standing barrel like chamber cooled to -150 degrees Celsius for three minutes. Wearing gloves, socks, ear and nose covers prevent frostbite. The body goes into a shock for a short period of time but not long enough to cause any damage. Consequently large amounts of endorphins are released in the brain. These are substances in the opioids family that work similar to morphine. They have powerful anti pain properties. The difference is that they kill pain in a healthy way for a prolonger period of time without the addictive potential of synthetic pain medications. Another way to increase endorphins is trough exercising especially weight lifting and running. This is especially true with some runners who are almost “addicted” to running because of the so called “runners high”.

That’s great you may say, but where do I find such a chamber and is it expensive? Well if you don’t have one around the corner don’t worry. There is an easy and cheep way to replicate this albeit to a lesser degree. Simply turn the shower to very cold for 15 second or so every time you shower. The cold water especially when we feel almost shocked will cause the release of endorphins. This is why it almost feels painful at first but then we feel very refreshed and good all around. This is the same reason why some clubs in Europe along the Baltic sea who call themselves the Walrus club swim in the ice cold sea every winter. The way they do this is first by doing lots of moving exercises like jumping jacks and stretching on the beach (and this is January weather at minus 5 for example) with shorts and head caps and nothing else. Then they jump into a rectangular opening in the ice the size of a small pool about 2 meters deep. They swim in in for a minute or so and come out drying themselves with a towel. The other amazing thing about it is that most people that join the club are senior citizens.

There is one more thing that I must add when talking about pain. Certain Medical Marihuana strains especially the ones high in the active compound Canabidiol (which is not psychoactive) are very effective for reducing pain. This is especially true of chronic pain conditions like arthritis for example. What’s is fantastic about such treatment is that when consumed in food or inhaled through a vaporizer marihuana does not have any deleterious effects on the health of an individual. This is totally in opposition to the prescription pharmaceutical pain medications which are highly addictive and toxic to our bodies.
