Monday Meal Idea: An Unsuspecting Summer Chai

Generally speaking, I find summer one of the most difficult times of year to stay on top of my health. In the winter there's so few reasons to actually leave the house (everyone in Toronto, I know you feel me), so it seems like there's all the time in the world for preparing meals or learning new workouts. But come summer, I'm out of hibernation and want to soak up as much fun fun fun in the sun sun sun as I possibly can.  Anytime there's an opportunity to be out and about with my friends, things like grocery shopping or trips to the gym become obsolete on my list of priorities. Why be indoors prepping lunches when we can be in the park or on a rooftop somewhere? With the threat of winter looming, one must seize every opportunity! Unfortunately, this also means having a fridge void of anything but perhaps a half-empty container of sad looking hummus.

Above: My life June through August.

Lucky for me, being at Vitarock as exposed me to a whole new world of ways to make sure I keep my health in check when my priorities are all about roaming free around the city. Sometimes the simplest addition can make a world of difference when it comes to health and this is most certainly the case upon meeting my new BFF: Genuine Health's Fermented whole body NUTRITION with Greens+, Vanilla Chai. I promise you one thing: this product is worth getting to know. I was hesitant at first to try it because I've always equated Chai anything as having a very Winter-y feeling. Such is not the case! I've been having this everyday and not only is it wildly refreshing, but makes me feel amazing!

Health Benefits of Genuine Health Fermented whole body NUTRITION with Greens+

If you're yet to discover fermented greens (or fermented protein for that matter), your life is about to change. This formula contains 70% fermented ingredients including plant foods, fatty acids, fibre and protein. These fermented ingredients nourish the micro flora of our gut which allows for maximum nutrient absorption and anti-inflammatory effects, as well as an increased ability to absorb and metabolize nutrients during digestion. As a quick reference, nourishing your intestinal bacteria improves overall health by:

• Helping the digesting and absorption of certain carbohydrates

• Preventing gas, bloating and constipation

• Producing vitamins, absorbing minerals and eliminating toxins

• Keeping bad bacteria under control

• Preventing allergies

• Providing vital support to your immune system

What's even better is the formula is 100% vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free, soy-free and made with non-GMO ingredients. The combination of carefully selected ingredients are proven to provide the ultimate nourishment and balance within our bodies. It's no joke that when I eat this I really feel fantastic from the inside out. It's filling yet never leaves that telltale "full" feeling.

How to Use Fermented whole body NUTRITION with Greens+

As I said, I can't get enough of the Vanilla Chai which is great on a super hot day. The most obvious way to drink it is to mix it with cold water, but if you want to try something a bit more exciting, try mixing it with soda water, ice and a little bit of almond milk! It tasted like an Italian soda or iced chai latte but with a lot more nutrients and zero sugar! Sometimes I use it as a breakfast by mixing granola with almond milk and mixing in a half scoop of greens+. Believe me, each and any of these options are delicious and the quickest way to make sure you're packing in a ton of nutrients into your day!

If you're not into Chai it's also available unflavored. If you try it leave us a comment and let us know what you think!
