The traditional use of Echinacea root as a powerful immune system stimlant has been corroborated with scientific evidence that shows this herb can be used to shorten the duration and intensity of pathogenic infections, especially those of the upper respiratory tract (such as the common cold). It can help to relieve symptoms of sinusitis and some people use it to help resolve intestinal infections including yeast and fungal overgrowth. Echinacea is best taken at the first signs of a cold or other infection. Take it until symptoms resolve and then continue taking it for another 3 to 5 days. Do not take echinacea daily for an extended period of time.
