Summer Travel Part 2: Hair and Make-Up

In this two part travel series, we're covering the all-important task of packing appropriately without sacrificing your beauty regimes. Summer travel should be as stress free as possible, meaning the last thing you need to worry about is a luggage disaster. Last week we covered skincare (click here for a refresher) and today we're closing up with beauty and hair.

The reality is, summer is a great time to cut back on the amount of products you use. The heat doesn't exactly make for a great canvas anyway and less time getting ready means more time having fun. Those of us in Toronto know exactly how much we relish these elusive summer days. So here's our favorite multi-purpose beauty products, which will allow you to maintain the glam factor on your vacay without adding 15 pounds to your luggage! It's all about the minimalism.

Beauty Products to Pack for a Summer Vacation

Pacifica Roll On Perfume in Indian Coconut Nectar

Rollerbar fragrances are the only way to go on vacation. Throw them in your carry-on, beach bag, or purse in the evening for on-the-go freshening up. This scent in particular is great as its coconut-vanilla mix will mirror your tropical surroundings giving you a non-toxic, fresh scent. All of Pacifica's natural fragrance in natural grain alcohol. All are free of phthalates, nitro-musks, benzene and other harsh chemicals.

Pacifica Alight Multi-Mineral BB Cream

There's no need to be fussing about with multiple foundations and concealers while roaming about the beach. Keep things as minimal as possible with a multi-functional BB cream. The beauty worlds answer to simplification! This product both moisturizes (so you can skip out on another extra step) while using it's shade-matching technology to provide a dewy, youthful radiance which is exactly what one wants while lounging poolside (or lets be real, any and all the time).

Lagona Mascara Natural Look, no. 01 Black

Maybe you're used to a lot of eye make-up (which is me during the winter), but during the summer all you really need is a very natural looking mascara. This goes the same for when travelling! We love Logona's Natural Look formula as it lends enough definition to brighten and define your eyes without looking overdone. Add a few extra coats for night and you're ready for dinner or dancing!

Burt's Bees Lip Crayon in Hawaiian Smolder

I cannot say enough of about this shade! It may sound scary to pack only one lip option, but I promise this will be all you need! This blue-tone deep pink is a build-able formula, so you can customize how much pigmentation you'd like. It finishes as a satin-matte, giving moisture and shine, essential for long days in the heat.

Giovanni 2Chic Avacado & Olive Oil Ultra Moist Protective Leave in Spray

What I'm about to say may sound alarming, but I encourage everyone to forgo their regular hair styling while on vacation. It will both save you time, save you from packing a lot of tools and products, and also give your hair a much needed rest! Instead, find a new way to keep your hair under control (try a top-knot bun, side braid, or air drying if that's an option) and nourish with a leave in product such as this one from Giovanni. It will leave a polished finish, restore shine, and create supple control.

Soap Works Co. Shampoo with Conditioner Biodegradable Bar Soap

If you're like me and are sensitive to many shampoos and conditioners you won't want to book another trip, camping adventure, or even a jaunt to the gym without bringing this with you! Without the use of harsh detergents, this bar both cleanses and moisturizes with aloe vera as a natural conditioner.
